Olympus is pleased to announce the introduction of the GoldXpert line of portable countertop X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers specifically designed to deliver rapid alloy chemistry and karat classification to the precious metals market with one nondestructive and nonintrusive test.
"Not only does the GoldXpert use the latest in spectroscopic technology, it has a design attractive enough for the showroom floor, and is very simple to use," said Bree Allen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Olympus. "Place the sample in the test chamber, close the lid, and push a button. A few seconds later you get both a karat result and chemistry analysis of the sample. The sample is not harmed or altered in any way. Testing couldn't be easier. And perhaps best of all, the GoldXpert can operate on rechargeable battery power for full portability."
The GoldXpert features a compact design and takes up minimal counter space. Weighing only 22 lb (10 kg), it is portable enough for easy transport to vendors and customers. Its large test chamber includes a flexible sample holder, interior lighting, and a viewing window, making it easy for both the operator and customer to view samples continuously during testing for optimal customer security. It also comes equipped with an integrated camera and small spot collimation for focused sample analysis.
Engineered for continuous use, and capable of performing thousands of tests per day, the GoldXpert stores thousands of readings in its internal memory, and can be networked for easy access to test results as they are being generated. Results can be sent directly to a connected printer, or output to optional PC Software for result certificates.
The GoldXpert is an innovative instrument that combines inherent safety, portability, and functionality in an attractive consumer-oriented design incorporating cutting-edge electronics, and leveraging Olympus Innov-X's extensive expertise in X-ray technology.
Ideal in jewelry showrooms, pawn shops, cash-for-gold operations, or even industrial refining and processing operations, key applications include:
- On-the-spot gold karat classification
- Analysis of platinum, gold, silver, and other precious metal alloys
- Verification of precious metal content in scrap and coinage
- Analysis of dental alloys.
